don't make em like they used to

today was arts and crafts day again. sarah kuhn (from me band) came over to cut up some more Life mags and make some cool art. can i have every saturday be like this? we made some pretty cool things. i feel i need to keep going with these. i might make one big one on this empty canvas i've got sitting here eyeing me slowly. that'll be a big undertaking.

anyways, for now here are some photos to show you what we did. love love love.

also found this beauty on my camera. i ran out of juice one night and all i got was this pic. pretty good tho.

and while we're on the topic of max wowch. i feel the need to share a little genius he threw my way the other day. how he finds these things i don't know but i ain't gonna complain. keep em coming max.

double monday post today. almost forgot to post my new viva playlist. today i bring you some tunes that go back to my dancefloor roots. felt like bringing the beat back. i've put quite a few Studio songs in my playlists over the years. always seem to come back to it. thought i'd throw in a few photos. FUCKING HELL THESE MEN ARE HOT. wish how i wish they would play here but i could easily see this not being a good show. however if they got it right, it would probably be the best thing i've ever seen.

Kenny Dope - Watching You
Mickey & The Soul Generation - U.F.O.
The Grodeck Whipperjenny - Sitting Here on a Tongue

soft spot

my dear pal nick lorden got me a little xmas present which i just received. can't stop playing. feel i must share with everyone. SOFT LOCATION. if you are someone who loves the Sundays or The Sea and Cake but also love early My Bloody Valentine and say...The Feelies or Galaxie 500 (but with female vocals) you'll LOVE this album. it's hard trying to pinpoint what i think it sounds like but i'm attaching a video of theirs for you to see/listen. i recommend getting the vinyl and playing it over and over again.

unfortunately this band doesn't exist anymore. but here's their myspace and site anyways. you can buy vinyl here.

baby's first collage

in my sickness (cough) i decided to get going with these Life issues i received the other day. they are amazing!!!! the photos + images + colors are so much better back in the day. everything is too polished now it drives me crazy. looking through each issue is artwork to me. the ads are amazing, so much life and good ideas. MAD MEN for real. now everything is mush.

anyways i digress....here is my first collage. too many ideas floating around tho. more to come. i couldn't decide whether i liked it more right-side up or up-side down. so i'm showing both of them.

(off songs in the key of death, no titles)
Belle & Sebastian - Song for Sunshine
Virginie Rodin - Commando Spatial (Space Control)

Ride - Vapour Trail
Best Coast - When I'm With You

NEW YEARS 2010!!

this year i stayed in nyc for nye and i didn't want to have a night of wandering around trying to find something fun and wondering why i'm not really finding it. so a few friends got together and decided to throw a bash filled with no frills and good times. IT WORKED!

Ramiken Crucible art gallery + Hunters + Tiny Pickles + Max Wowch + meeeeeeeeee. it was rad. big open space, free beer, good tunes, and a ton of friends. what a way to say hello to the new year. i was having a little too much fun/too drunk to take a ton of photos but here are a few!...
